Hi Ben, in Part 1 of our blog on the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool, you spilled a little tea on the Survey feature. So, what makes this feature stand out for L&D teams?
Survey reports are important for L&D teams because they help them understand how learners actually feel about the training they’ve completed. The results provide direct feedback on things like course relevance, content clarity, delivery quality, and overall learner satisfaction.
However, in many cases, L&D teams have to perform the data analysis themselves for each course survey report they download. You can imagine how time-consuming that can be—not only to analyse each report, but also to piece everything together to see the bigger picture across all courses.
Solving Manual Analysis with the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool
This is where the Survey feature of the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool really stands out. It comes with built-in data analytics that automatically analyses survey reports from multiple courses within a single Excel file, making it easy for L&D teams to quickly see overall course ratings and learner sentiment across all courses at a glance.

That sounds really convenient. Can you explain how the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool fetches survey data from the LMS?
Sure, let me show you. I’ll use one course in Sky Prep as an example. A typical course usually has several components—things like lessons, assessments, and of course, a survey at the end.
In SkyPrep LMS, surveys are built using Checklist feature, and each Checklist comes with a unique numerical ID, known as the Exam ID. When a learner completes a course and submits the survey, their responses are saved in the LMS under that Exam ID.
How the Tool Fetches Data Using Exam IDs
What our LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool does is use that Exam ID to pull all the related survey responses directly from the LMS.
And if multiple courses are using the same survey checklist—meaning they also share the same Exam ID—then when the report is generated, all the survey responses linked to that Exam ID are pulled together into a single Excel file.

Interesting! Now, can you show our readers how L&D teams can download their survey reports using the Survey feature in the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool?
Sure. Let me show you how it works. When you’re using the tool for the first time, you’ll need to click on “Add Exam ID.” Like I explained earlier, the Exam ID is a unique numerical ID that’s linked to a specific survey checklist in SkyPrep LMS.
If you’re wondering where to find it, it’s actually in the checklist URL. Just look at the address bar when you open the survey checklist in SkyPrep—the number you see there is the Exam ID. Here’s an example of what it looks like.

Step-by-Step: Using the LMS Report Extraction Data Analytics Tool
Once you’ve entered the Exam ID into the tool, you’ll be prompted to enter the Exam Name. This is simply the name you want to use for the survey report you’re about to download.

After that, the tool will fetch the survey data for you automatically. When it’s ready, just click “Download Survey”, and your survey report will be generated.

At the beginning of our conversation, you mentioned that the survey report includes built-in data analytics. Can you show us that part of the report and explain how it supports L&D teams in their analysis?
When L&D teams download the survey report directly from SkyPrep LMS, they receive the raw data—survey questions like Task 1, Task 2, Task 3, along with each learner’s responses. It’s detailed, but they’ll need to analyse everything manually.

Visualizing Insights with Built-in Data Analytics
But with the LMS Report Extraction and Data Analytics Tool, it doesn’t stop there. The tool automatically generates a Summary page within the same Excel file. This summary provides built-in data analytics, including the overall course ratings and the total number of responses across all courses.
This means L&D teams don’t have to manually calculate averages or piece together insights from raw data. They can immediately see how courses are performing at a glance, quickly identify trends, compare ratings across courses, and make faster, more informed decisions about where improvements are needed.

That’s really helpful. Alright, we’ll wrap up here and save the rest for our next blog. Before we go, is there anything you’d like to leave our readers with?
If your team is spending too much time compiling and analysing survey data manually, it might be time to explore a smarter approach. The team at Content Tree would be happy to share more.
And don’t miss our next post, where I’ll share how the tool analyses SCORM data and uncovers even deeper insights.
